How We Began:
"I remember the day in year 2000 when I delivered their Web site. I had volunteered to help them; they were excited to have a Web site that worked.

"Their previous site displayed old news from 2 years ago. It wasn't pretty either: the pictures were out of date, getting around even the small Web site was difficult and there were unfinished areas with weird colors. It made them look bad. The administrator said it was, 'Ugly'.

-They needed a Web site to "Reach Out".  Their current one turned people away!

"For 2 months I walked the streets of that little town taking pictures. I interviewed people with great stories. And I struggled with a 'well-known' computer software that creates Web sites. The big-name company (you know the company) said their software was, 'Easy'. At night, laboring over the Web site, it was not easy.

"I wrote articles about the people and what the organization was doing for the future of that town. I wrote about their great past, their current issues, and their future vision. I worked for a total of 2 months volunteering my time to just get that single Web site up and running properly. I was exhausted.

"And their Web site was beautiful; it told their story; it showed them in full color; it was easy to use. People loved having a quality Web site. To say the least, I was thrilled! This put them on the map. They had a future because people could connect to them and what they were doing. And I had helped make it happen.  Now they could, "Reach Out".

"That night, I started to think about an alternative to the 'Easy' software. I wanted to make it much better. I wanted to make it interactive, for building and nurturing relationships with people. I wanted point and click templates and colors, easy adding and editing of Web pages any time and attractive wall calendars with automated repeating events. I wanted to reach out to people with automatic email newsletters and file download areas. I wanted photo albums. And I wanted to make sure the Web site was in a very secure place, to guard their reputation. Mostly, I wanted to put the power of communicating to new people right into the hands of those who do the work.  This was about reaching out to and connecting to people, building the organization - for everyone's success!"
